Data Base Administrator |
Data is the key resource to BI projects and often presents significant risk to the project. A successful DBA will have an understanding of the data sources, experience in the ETL processes, and an awareness of the requirements of the BI products being used. A sound knowledge of interface engines is an advantage. Maintaining sound data structures and performance tuning are key responsibilities. |
BC
Business Champion or Business Analyst. |
Essentially, BI projects are business focused. A successful BC will have a deep understanding of the business and experience with BI systems. The BC is the primary conduit between the business and the project team. |
| Data Modeler |
Modeling data comprises understanding the business requirements and the capabilities of the BI products. This person will work closely with the DBA to achieve the BC's requirements. The new generation of BI products demand establishing a common framework upon which all reporting components are delivered. Typically, the Data Modeler is responsible for establishing and maintaining this framework. |
| Report Authoring |
Most BI products are capable of generating WEB reports comprising multiple reporting objects, ie graphs, cross tabs, visualisations, dashboard, scorecards, etc. The Report Author is responsible for building reports based on the developed framework. |
| Product Expert |
The installation and tuning of the BI products is an essential specialist role. |
| Project Manager |
A successful Project Manager understands the complexities of BI Projects and has adopted a proven BI project methodology. |
